Sue Canavan
Sue creates paper botanicals. These realistic flowers, foliage, and fungi are made using high-quality European crepe paper, often incorporating watercolors, pastels, and hand-dyed paper.
She found paper flowers artists on social media and was intrigued, as it combined her interests of gardening and making things. She has taken in-person classes with noted paper flower artists Jessie Chui and Quynh Nguyen. She finds inspiration in nature, her garden, and learning from other paper artists and floral designers.
Sue works as a graphic designer and has a BFA in Illustration from Rhode Island School of Design. She spent many years in publishing and, since moving to Granby 2009, has done graphic design and marketing work for local nonprofits including the Friends of Holcomb Farm, Granby Education Foundation, and Granby Artists.
