The Granby Artists Association Art Scholarship Fund was created in 2013 as part of our mission to support art education in our community. The scholarship is a cash award of $1,000 given to a graduating senior with advanced artistic skills planning to pursue further education in visual arts to be used for upcoming college expenses. This scholarship is funded by donations received for this purpose. Information about the 2027 application will be posted late winter.

Eligibility and Selection Process

Graduating high school seniors who are planning to pursue further education in visual arts are invited to apply for the Granby Artists Association Annual Scholarship. Seniors must be graduating in 2027 with acceptance to a college degree program (or further educational programming) and be a permanent resident of Granby, CT. This includes students from Granby Memorial High School, private schools, and home-schooled students. (Family members of any GA Exhibiting Artist members are not eligible.)

Granby Artists Exhibiting Artist members review all scholarship applications and select the winner. Scholarship criteria include quality of work in the student’s portfolio and how the student’s experiences and achievements have solidified their interest in continuing their art education.

How to Apply

Following is a general overview of what is likely to be expected for the 2027 application.

Brief overview of your artistic experiences

Explain how you became interested in the arts, your inspirations, aspirations, awards or achievements, and any other information that helps to describe your work and experiences as an artist. Please include your college of choice, your educational goals, and how you plan to continue your passion for art in the future. This overview may be submitted in the body of an email or as a Word file.

Portfolio

Please send a portfolio of five pieces that best represent you as an artist, along with a brief description of each piece and how it is representative of your work. Please send high-resolution, digital files (jpeg, heic, pdf) and include your name in the file name (like smith1.jpeg).
