Emma Smith

Emma grew up in Saratoga Springs, New York, a city with a vibrant arts community. During her years in elementary school, Emma found herself fascinated by art history lessons presented by nuns at her Catholic school. She also enjoyed taking summer art lessons during middle school and painting some of the ornate Victorian homes in Saratoga. In high school she took oil painting classes and this became one of her lifetime passions.

She has studied art in high school and took classes at Northeastern University, Central CT State University, and at the Farmington Valley Arts Center in Avon CT.

She has spent considerable time traveling throughout Europe, Asia and the United States and continues to do so. She especially enjoys creating landscapes and cityscapes from the various places she has visited and including figures in them.

Her works have been featured at Mystic Arts Center, Mystic, CT; Lost Acres Vineyard; Simsbury Public Library; University of Connecticut John Dempsey Hospital; and Noank Historical Society, Noank CT, among other sites.

Emma is currently a docent at the Hillstead Museum in Farmington, CT.
