George Mattingly
I loved painting as a child and a young adult. I sold my first painting when I was in fifth grade. My art teacher bought it and told my parents I had a gift from God.
Somewhere in my teen years, I got diverted by life and put art aside.
I didn’t come back to it again for over 40 years until Christmas 2017, when semi-retired and newly divorced, I finally picked up a paintbrush again.
In the intervening years, I had a very successful design/build construction company, so in a way, drawing has been part of my life all the way through. But, I never knew that blue and yellow mixed together, makes green until 2018!
I’m very much on a journey, learning my craft and exploring the possibilities. As an avid outdoorsman, I’m drawn to the natural world and that has been the focus of my paintings to date. But there is much more ground to cover—different techniques, styles and subjects with which to experiment.
So much to learn and so little time.
